[Skin Finished] Friends_1.0

Hi everyone, been making winamp modern skins for quite a while. Made probably 10 skins or so :p. Well not long ago I found midiwriter interested in one of my projects and he showed me this place. Winamp forums are so slugish and quite inactive so I thought about visiting this place and putting my newest works up in here too, hope I'll catch someone's interest and get some help on the code or xml (give some help too) :D ...

So here I've got first steps to my Friends_skin_1.0. It's a basic skin, no drawers or anything, All I'm looking for is that good 'ol "Friends" look, dunno if I'm getting it. What do you think?

BTW is there a way to make winamp to load different image for the background according to colortheme that I choose?

Simply varying the background image gamma wouldn't be enough for what I'm looking for..

Oh, and can you move this thread to winamp center/winamp modern skins/ ?

Hi jogosa, welcome to Skin Consortium!

first, moving: done ;)

I like your 'Friends' concept (although i don't know the tv series).
As for your question about colorthemes and backgrounds: This can be done (afaik), but you will need to write some script stuff for it, or someone here in the forums might need to do this for you :D

Believe me — it's the best and funniest TV show ever made :D .

Writing maki is just the thing I know least about (just know how to change the variables and do the compiling...) .
I would be very thankful if someone showed me the script. I mean how hard can it be, right?

Thanks, by the way..

I've seen a few screens from this show it's okay ":]

You can have different images depending on the mode by having different 'shade modes'
try that. (btw switching between them will be a pain... maybe have some sorta built-in menu)

I like it, however.

Probably not a good idea, I mean all that extra bulk of layout xml... I really need to fing that script that simply swaps the images and Bam! Gonna have look for something like that in current skins..

I've got to believe its possible... just have some sort of toggle for the transparency for each of the images. I mean, think about play indicator icons and such... it seems perfectly possible. Someone here with more MAKI experience can probably explain the way better though.

I looked in std.mi and found nothing relating to colorthemes...
Once you could pinpoint a theme through maki, it would be easy.
You would just do something like:

ctButton.onLeftClick {
String ColorThemeStr = getColorthemeText(); //if this existed or similar
ColorThemeStr = strLeft(ColorThemeStr, 3);
if (ColorThemeStr == "gre") { //would get a "Green" theme loaded
ColorThemeImage.setXMLParam("image", "GreenTheme_image");
} else if (ColorThemeStr == "blu") { //would get a "Blue" theme loaded
ColorThemeImage.setXMLParam("image", "BlueTheme_image");
}
} ...and so on

Or the first line would be something like
System.onColorThemeChanged {

But getColorThemeText or System.onColorThemeChanged don't exists, you'll need to find another way to get this info.

happy new year :D

well, best pack the skin together w/ all the different background and post it here. if i have some time i'll have a look at scripting the stuff.

We have a cPro Skin for GTA 4 that is also able to switch backgrounds, would this method be sufficient, or should it be the colortheme way?

It's best to have the method of ColorThemes because there would be more than just that background changing — also changes would be made to text color and so on..

Now before I send you the files I wanna know if that script will let me apply gamma to loaded graphics as in the gamma-presets ?

I'm asking because I'm gonna have colorThemes something like this:

Colortheme_1:
background_A.png

Colortheme_2:
background_B.png

Colortheme_3:
background_C.png

Colortheme_5:
background_D.png gamma="600,100,50"

Colortheme_6:
background_D.png gamma="10,1000,400"

Colortheme_7:
background_D.png gamma="5,20,10"

I hope I'm getting this clear...

Also I might add a button to quick-change to another random theme — just like on some app I've had long time ago. Any thoughts on this?

I would really apreciate it if you did this...

Yesterday I browsed through a few topics and seem to remember lots of people writing about cPro plugin.. Is it really that improved over modern skins?
