cPro - Steam

just found this thread on wa forums.
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=308508

maybe we should create a steam cpro skin? Gfx shouldn't be hard.

Anyone up to give it a try?

dunno if rgb will be the right thing for this skin - afaik steam has just this sleek green color.
but let's keep discussing it!

Yea I know Steam has been green for years, however, offering RGB with it will make it appeal to even more people who like the concept, style of steam but want it in a different colour(s)
Easy to add in and would make it such a more complete skin imo rather than leave it with just 1 colour ;)

that's true :)
maybe we should keep RGB in mind during skinning.

has anyone some design ideas yet?

Actually steam has a few basic color themes itself...so rgb wouldn't be straying very far from the normal. Sound good to me.

I think I'll try to work out something.
Will post later.

A pic comparing what I've done and the window which I based my design on.

Skin file
Only most of the main normal layout is skinned for now.

Plan to fake a sectioned progress bar by putting a 1 by X grid on top of the progress bar but not sure if it will look good when stretched.
Wanted to shift the playback buttons down but some of them have no id so i can't get hold of them with sendparams.

no id, no idea? pieter? ;) heheh ;)

to me it makes sense to bosh an id on everything that can have one nowadays so it is accessible.
we should add in ids for the next version, those will not conflict with anything else

Good start though iron :)

FAIL!

we need IDs on this stuff.

good work so far - liking it!

as for the seeker, i dunno if it can have a tiled grid tbh, havn't tried this yet.
but we can underlay one if needed.

I tiled little windows over the seeker:

Looks pretty ok to me.

Another thing.
I tried to un-bold the tab font via sendparam but the result is only the ML tab is un-bold.

this code is included in this nightly build of cPro
http://stashbox.org/585187/ClassicPro_1.13__2009-07-30.exe

instead of sendparams you should also be possible to use the styles from classicpro.xml in order to shift the buttons.

pieter, have you included anything to change the fontface of the tabs?

How do I shift the buttons using styles?

Seems like the styles provided are set through script in player.m and there doesn't seem to be anything for the buttons.
Or I should be writing some script to apply my styles?

Ok not very much different from the previous file.
Skin file 2

I 'll leave it as such for the day.
(Don't forget to fix the 12-hr 12mn cPro clock problem!)

[EDIT] Link fixed ;)

hahah, check Ebonite skin for the fix to the clock error ;)

Hmm, I think the cbuttons should be on the same level, xfade is out 1px on hover
wonder if a plain style on the buttons for hover rather than the subtle gradient? it looks like they're changing size due to the gradient

Should deffo look to get RGB in ;) fun :)

Ok, plain style for the playback buttons.
Mostly buttons left to skin.

iron, what you think about add text below player buttons? Something like - PREV | PLAY | PAUSE | STOP | NEXT
Winamp 5.5x + Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium @ PAX drivers mod + Logitech Z-5500 Digital THX
